BSMDDS707 – BRENDAN RADFORD – EJ
‘EJ’ is the long anticipated new single from Brendan Radford and shares a story about Brendan’s grandfather, Elijah James (EJ) Radford, a Ganger with Queensland Rail in the 1940s.
A respected singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and music producer, Brendan writes and performs his own music and continues to tour with a who’s who of Australia’s leading artists. He has played on countless award-winning recordings and has received multiple awards and award nominations over many years.
Brendan was voted Musician of the Year at the 2022 awards, has been the Musical Director of the Country Music Awards of Australia house band for over 10 years and is a three times national bluegrass guitar champion.
It has been quite a while since Brendan released his last album ‘Snow’ and he has been hard at work writing and recording new material in between other commitments. While ‘EJ’ is a story, it is based on fact garnered from Queensland Rail employee records along with recollections of conversations between Brendan and his Dad.
Starting life as an instrumental written by Lindsay Waddington, Brendan added the lyrics and melody, changed the key and gently massaged the feel to compliment the storyline.
‘EJ’ was recorded at LWM House and co-produced by Brendan and Lindsay.
Brendan’s vocals, finger-style guitar and mandolin were augmented by an all-star band consisting of Steve Fearnley (drums), James Gillard (bass guitar), Michel Rose (resonator guitar) and Luke Moller (violins/viola).
