‘Fox’s Tale’ manifested due to some lyrical daydreaming. A desert plain and star-filled night came to mind, and it reminded Carl that his friend Bill Chambers used to be a fox hunter out in that sort of country.
It also struck Carl that there is so much division in the world, and wouldn’t it be great if we could all get on. So, he thought it was a good vehicle to present a contemporary allegory of Let’s Live and Let Live. We are all in the same boat. Carl’s simple narrative style is enhanced by Bill Chamber’s musical mastery to convey this.
