‘The Backsteps’ is a happy, uplifting song quite special to me. It is written about a place I used to go to think about the day and all my blessings. I remember the feeling of utter contentment and joy at just being in the moment. It’s a celebration of what I find important in life – faith, family, love and gratitude.
My hope is that everyone has a special place like that and although blokes usually say it’s their shed, mine was the old back steps of my house where I lived for 30 years and raised a beautiful family. Angus Gill’s production of the song is exceptional weaving together the talents of some of the finest musicians from Australia and Nashville.
