Joy Hendon
I started playing music at 5 years of age when my Mum taught my brother and I to play recorder.
I then went on to piano lessons, violin and saxophone. Followed closely by bass guitar, drums and guitar as well as dabbling in a few more instruments here and there.
I was brought up on classical and big band music playing sax in school bands in Melbourne.
We moved to Qld in 1977 where electric bass became my primary instrument.
While still in high school, I started gigging with country and old time bands as well as school bands and have gone on to play a variety of genre’s in lots of different groups.
I started songwriting in 2020 and have since performed at several venues.
I have entered a couple of competitions and most recently had 2 songs in the semifinals and one in the finals in the novice section of the TSA (Tamworth Song Writers Association) competition (2026).
I was placed 2nd in the walkups at Bingara Festival this year. (2026).
I have had the absolute honour and pleasure of recording 8 original songs in Tamworth this year (2026) with Rob Breese.
I have met many beautiful people, amazing writers and performers along my path and am excited to see where my magical, mystical musical journey takes me.
I very much enjoy putting pen to paper and telling stories through song and I welcome you to come along on the ride .. enjoy
