Adrian Payne

Adrian Payne is among Australia’s most talented singers and one of the most sought after session singers and voice over artists in Australia. He has sung in Rock and Country bands and as a solo performer throughout the seventies, eighties and nineties, and experienced the toughness of stage work having spent two years with Harry Miller’s production of the rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar, in which he was understudy for the lead roles of both Judas and Jesus.

 

Experience and contacts from the ‘Superstar’ engagement led Adrian into the world of studios and recording. He quickly became one of Australia’s most sought after session singers. Through television, cinema & radio commercials his voice has become familiar to audiences in Australia, New Zealand, the UK and the USA. Some of the big name advertisers that have used Adrian’s voice include Coca Cola, Macdonalds, Toyota, Tooheys, Colgate BMW, R.M. Williams, Pfizer, etc. etc. Able to draw upon a host of characters, corporate and retail reads, and his iconic Aussie specialty, Adrian’s professionalism is sure to satisfy.

Recently he has been involved with the KICK AM station IDs, performing with Troy Cassar Daly and Shanley Del on this campaign.

 

Adrian is no newcomer to the Country/Rock scene, having established his place in the industry over a number of years. He has performed as back-up singer in concert, TV shows and recording sessions on countless occasions for artists such as Slim Dusty, Tom Jones, Marcia Hines, Grace Knight, Jon English, Doug Parkinson etc.

 

In the late eighties Adrian was lead vocalist for The Tommy Emmanuel Band which toured the country, and with Tommy, supported Joan Armatrading at the Sydney Entertainment Centre as well as being the solo support for Air Supply during one of their US tours.

Adrian’s vocal & guitar talents were utilized as part of the Col Joye band, appearing on tour with such legendary greats as Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry & The Everly Brothers in the highly successful ‘Legends Of Rock’ tour and is at present rehearsing his own new band ‘The Southern Gentlemen’, a rockin’ country/blues outfit.

 

Composition credits for Adrian extend from the writing of documentary music to the complete scoring, and performing, of movie soundtracks and he is the producer of Col Joye’s latest album ‘Don’t Give Up’.

Adrian’s talent extends beyond music to narrating and acting engagements including voicing the part for ‘Dr.Robotnik’ (a Sega World character), the narration for an aboriginal dreamtime .story used in the recent ‘water screen’ production at Darling Harbour, and appearing in the role of the alien in the feature film ‘Weird Ones’.

 

Right now, Adrian is teaming with Songwriter Bruce Mackay, in creating some Aussie Country Music Ballads.
