Old Felt Hat was inspired by a real-life event of bush poet/songwriter Greg Dillon. Among his travels he saw an interesting sight of a weather beaten felt hat nailed to a tree. This up-tempo track shows that even inanimate objects have a story to tell.
One can just imagine what the hat would’ve been through, it had many purposes and they made them tough much like the stockman or bushman of the day. ‘Old Felt Hat’ shows that we all have a story to tell, even if it’s told by something we have left behind.
