Alice’s latest single, ‘Old Felt Hat’, has a compelling story to tell. The lyrics were written by bush poet and singer/songwriter Greg Dillon with the melody and arrangement created by Alice Benfer.
Being a country girl at heart, Alice loves to tell stories through song, and this is just one of many. This track was inspired by an interesting sight in the country; A weathered bushman’s hat nailed to a tree.
One can just imagine what the hat would’ve been through, it had many purposes and they made them tough much like the stockman or bushman of the day. ‘Old Felt Hat’ shows that we all have a story to tell, even if it’s told by something we have left behind.
