Sandy Summers
A 2024 Finalist in Tamworth’s ACM People’s Choice Awards, Sandy Summers is a soloist and accredited singer-songwriter from Cessnock NSW Australia.
Her solo work entered the airwaves in July 2023 with the upbeat song “Jet lag” from her EP “Summer Storm” & she is certainly storming on with a new wave of releases set to drop.
Sandy recently received nominations as a Finalist in Tamworth’s ICMA Awards & Tasmanian’s Independent Country Music Awards as well as being shortlisted by the Australian Songwriters Assoc. in the Country Category.
Throughout the last year Sandy has released singles from her self-penned EP including the tracks “Devil in her Heart” & “Run Today” the latter of which achieved #5 on AMRAP’s Regional Chart (Jan 15, 2024).
All of her songs have landed inside the top 20 on the Country Songs Top 40 Australian Airplay Chart with “One Step At A Time” & “Hell of a Highway” achieving positions in the top 10 whilst her first 2 releases gained recognition in the TSA semifinals at Tamworth in Jan 2024.
Each of her releases displays a shift in flavour widening appeal for her music & her cheeky retro music video is no exception. Calling it her riskiest track yet, the “Hell of a Highway” music video reached 10K+ views in its first 4 weeks.
Sandy is a promising songwriter in her own right. Her originals usually focus on hard times & breakups. She writes her own material from personal experiences & favours Alt Country, Outlaw, Traditional Country & Country Rock styles, confessing to have a soft spot for power ballads.
During 2024 Sandy drew inspiration for her song writing whilst attending Lyn Bowtell’s SHE-Songwriting workshop.
It was here where she met & co-wrote with critically acclaimed 2019 CMAA Nashville Exchange Program Graduate/Artist Gretta Ziller along with Novocastrian & Regional Amrap Chart achiever Kylie Gale.
A Hunter Valley Stars of Fame recipient, Sandy lives by the idiom of “never doing things by halves” and she applies this same attitude to music and performance.
She began performing publicly in 2016 after achieving credits in 3x AMEB “Singing for Leisure” exams. This tuition afforded her Eisteddfod & Country Music Club wins giving her the confidence to keep going.
After winning Best Duo 2023 at Tamworth’s ACM People’s Choice Awards, Sandy embarked on her solo career adopting the stage name “Sandy Summers”.
Her brand continually gains momentum performing live around NSW venues with her fun popular “Songs of Summer” & “Summer Storm” shows.
Sandy says, “Singing & songwriting will always be knocking on the inside wanting out!”
