Watling & Bates
Kym Watling and Geoffrey Bates are Watling & Bates, songwriters from Unumgar NSW on the western edge of the Northern Rivers, raconteurs of contemporary rural Australia and revivalists of the country’s past.
Their distinctive brand of oldtime Gothic hillbilly honkytonk has seen them perform at venues as diverse as art galleries, camel races, operas, country halls, and city malls.
Watling & Bates’ 2014 debut EP Before I Met You was followed by their Small Town Tales album in 2018. The duo is currently producing a forthcoming album from their Unumgar Studios, in collaboration with Lovestreet Studios and 12th & Vine Post.
