“Kelpie Co-Pilot” is a single taken off a forthcoming studio album by the group CAIRNS COUNTRY titled “Make Your Love Last”. The song is about Nugget, a black Australian kelpie, the co-pilot and faithful companion of Frank Markert, the songwriter.
The featured vocalist is Cairns based Steve Lockyer, a well-known Cairns musician and past front man of popular local band JUSFA KICKS.
The album is being recorded at Pegasus Studios, Cairns and studio owner, Nigel Pegrum is the Producer and drummer on all tracks. Nigel is a multi-instrumentalist and was previously the drummer in UK bands SMALL FACES and STEELEYE SPAN, before emigrating to Australia and setting up Pegasus Studios.
Piano accordion is played by Cairns local Kirk Steele and dobro and banjo by Mark Moulynox. Vocal backing harmonies are by Libby Brockenshire and Nikki Doll. Bass playing is by Lochie Gaylard.
