How this song “COWBOYS COME ALIVE AFTER FIVE” came to be is a great back story and it has been a long time in the making.
Marion Shilo & I were out in Melbourne City, as we sat eating our lunch we watched people all in a hurry going about their business. We noticed not many people were wearing hats & especially Cowboy hats. We then went out that night, (it was after 5 pm), to a club and as we walked in we noticed the band were wearing Cowboy hats. Marion turned to me and said “Cowboys come alive after five” (hence the name of this single). Marion came up with the concept, and since we had decided on the title, she wrote the lyrics for the song.
We both met up with Lyn Bowtell (9 times Golden Guitar Winner) at one of Carter & Carter Duo’s song-writing retreats in Kinglake, Vic in April 2021. Lyn, Marion & I rewrote some of the lyrics to fit the melody that Lyn composed.
I recorded the song at Mantra Kitchen Studio in Yarraville, Vic which is owned & operated by David & Patsy of The Long And Short Of It and well known Country Artist Robert Broatch stepped up as Musical Director/ lead guitarist.
Lyn agreed too & remotely recorded the backing vocals. David organized to have the final master mix and now I am very happy to share this country rock good timing song to the world.
