Ricki Wood

Australian Alt-country artist Ricki Wood hails from Maffra, Victoria. Ricki started learning music from age 8 and from age 15 he was writing and performing his own songs in front of audiences. From then to now at age 50, Ricki has played no less than 3500 shows all over the world including USA, Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, Fiji, Bali, New Zealand and of course, Australia.

Ricki has played and sung in bands covering all genres from pop to heavy metal, blues, rockabilly, country and whatever else came his way. Ricki is now writing mostly acoustic based songs with a classic australian country / singer-songwriter vibe ala Slim Dusty, Paul Kelly and Colin Hay. But he slides off the path now and then to expand the ears and minds of the listener. Lyrically, Ricki focuses mostly on his own life experiences and enjoys classic storytelling songs about people he has met and shared time with along his journey.

Over the years Ricki has played guitar at festivals for many artists like Frankie J Holden (ol’ 55, AUS), Jordan Luck (The Exponents, NZ), Graham Brazier (Hello Sailor, NZ), When the cats away (NZ) and more. He even had members of John Mellencamp’s band join him on stage in 2007 during one of his residency shows in Auckland bar, Danny Doolans.

In April 2021, Ricki hit the road full time playing his songs and roaming around Australia with his wife Adele and their dog Nero. Ricki has a new 5 song EP that comes out on 13th of Feb 2024, in which the listener is taken on quite the journey both musically and lyrically and has received incredible feedback from early listeners.
