Terry Lockley

I started playing guitar at about 20 years of age. I did get up a few times at the local Lidcombe Hotel back then , but nerves, stage fright, and anxiety meant that I never played live for many years .

At 52 I wrote a song called “THE LOCAL” and entered a songwriting competition at The Tamworth Country Music Festival (in 2012) where I performed it (battling nerves) and won. Then back into retirement. At about 59 years of age I was encouraged to get up and perform, just one song at first , then gradually more and more at my local bowling club. I literally froze on stage, more than once, but at last I was gaining confidence.I was the approached to go on “The Voice” which I did in 2022 singing “Old Town Rd” (62 at the time). Didn’t turn a chair , but again , great for my confidence. After finally enjoying playing live , it’s the old joint pain that’s slowing me down . You can’t win!

However over the last 18 months I have enjoyed going into the studio to record a few songs. This is my 4th release, and I’m having fun!

Isn’t that what music is all about.
